During the week of the AHA meeting in 1993, I was the only fellow who did not attend the meeting. What a great week it was watching alone with Fred Morady. The best week of my 40 year medical career!

Despite having finished my electrophysiology training under Dr. Morady more than 20 years ago, I still rely on the insights and skills I learned from him to practice electrophysiology today.

Fred is an outstanding clinician, researcher, and person. One of the very best in the world and in the field of EP. He taught me how to do research and get papers published. He taught me how to perform catheter ablation. He taught me how to care for patients. There is no doubt that I own any success I have had in the field of EP to Fred. It is a pleasure for me to honor such a remarkable physician and friend in this way.

It is my particular honor and pleasure to recall the unforgettable two years of fellowship in Dr. Morady's electrophysiology laboratory at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. I completed the fellowship during the two most revolutionary years in electrophysiology when radio frequency ablation has become a routine clinical approach to treat patients with arrhythmia. Dr. Morady's laboratory contribution was tremendous and had most important impact on may clinical and research work during the last 24 years. Fred is an unusual and invaluable teacher and friend and will be forever.

Dr. Morady is an amazing teacher, mentor, physician and friend. I consider myself very fortunate to have had the chance to train with him and learn from him. His contributions to advancing the field of electrophysiology will be difficult to match. Thank you for everything you have given me Dr. Morady!

I had admired Dr. Fred Morady’s work even before meeting him, over a quarter of a century ago. He has earnestly educated generations of Electrophysiologists, myself included, saved hundreds of lives along the way and changed the face of medical treatment in the 21st century. Dr Morady is internationally recognized as a pioneer of what was essentially a very new discipline. He has gone on to become a champion of his field in both research and clinical settings, with a curiosity and thirst for novel therapies that is infectious. Fred has the remarkable ability to make every member of his team feel valued and has a style of mentoring that increases curiosity, opens discussion and furthers the frontiers of Electrophysiology. For me personally, he will always be an outstanding mentor, clinician, scientist and friend. My time in Ann Arbor both as a fellow and subsequent faculty was one of the most wonderful experiences. I am deeply indebted to him and it is with profound gratitude that I am delighted to honor him. He is a national treasure and the accolades are richly deserved.

Between 2007 and 2009, when I was a research fellow in your laboratory, you taught me how to design a study, how to get the data, and how to write a paper. It was also a great experience to see you perform your efficient ablation procedures. "A good teacher is a tough teacher." My long-term aim is to emulate your incredible toughness.
