Heart Rhythm Society Benefits Program Overview
| Community Involvement The Heart Rhythm Society embarked on a year-long volunteer partnership with the Children's Law Center (CLC) in Washington, DC. Through the partnership, Society staff has supported the CLC in a number of ways: providing books, puzzles and games for the CLC’s teen and children’s rooms; providing backpacks stuffed with school supplies for the 2008-2009 school year; and by volunteering time to support the CLC’s annual "Helping Children Soar" fundraising benefit on September 17, 2008. "Thank you SO MUCH for working so hard on all the ways that the Heart Rhythm Society has partnered with CLC this year. You guys are just absolutely the best! It means so much to us to have an organization like you working with us throughout the year. Your generosity as an organization, your spirit of volunteerism, the way folks have stepped up to the plate to help us this week and next...well, it's just great!" Catharine B. Clarenbach The Children's Law Center |

The second Tuesday of every month features a wellness program consisting of brown bag lunches, guest speakers, heart screenings, walking contents, health fairs, CPR and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) trainings, massage sessions, after-work exercise programs and yoga. All staff are encouraged to participate.
Medical Insurance
The Society currently offers a medical insurance option through Blue Cross BlueShield. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following date of hire. The Society pays a portion of the premium for individual and dependent coverage. Employees can elect the HMO BlueChoice Open Access plan or the PPO BlueFund Health Reimbursement Account (HRA).
Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is provided through Principal. Coverage is effective on the first day of the month following hire. The Society pays approximately 80% of the cost of the individual monthly premium and 50% of premiums for dependent coverage.

Health Care Flexible Spending Account
A Health Care FSA will allow you to set aside “pre-tax” dollars for the reimbursement of health care expenses incurred for you or your dependents that are not covered by your insurance. Eligible expenses include deductibles, co-payments, as well as other tax deductible medical, dental or vision care expenses you pay out-of-pocket. You may use this program for you and your family’s health care expenses regardless of whether you or your dependents are covered under our medical plan. You may elect to contribute up to $5,000.
Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account
Employees who utilize babysitters or daycare institutions in order to work will be able to pay for those expenses with “pre-tax” dollars using the Dependent Care FSA. Most employees will find this benefit to be more valuable than the childcare tax credit. You may elect to contribute up to $5,000.
Flex Debit MasterCard
We also offer the Flex Debit MasterCard. The Flex Debit MasterCard allows the employee to directly pay for eligible Flexible Spending Account (FSA) expenses at the point of service. It deducts the payment directly from the employee’s FSA account. This allows the employee to avoid the hassles of an FSA such as paying cash for services, completing and submitting a claim form, and waiting for a reimbursement check.

The Society-sponsored events offer employees a chance to get to know their coworkers in a non-work setting.
The HRS-CLC Planning Committee is responsible for overseeing the activities the Heart Rhythm Society pursues in support of the Children's Law Center (CLC) for the 2007-2008 year. Employees are provided the opportunity to offer support to the CLC by means of time, personal donations and financial contributions. Learn more about the Society's partnership with CLC.
