Description:
This position will serve as the Manager for new and ongoing CME/CE projects, coordinate and track progress and results, and be the primary CME/CE contact both internally and externally for accredited activities. The Manager, CME/CE will function as the Society’s key expert on CME outcomes, performance improvement, and quality improvement. The Manager, CME/CE will manage the Society's compliance with its Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accreditation and other continuing education accreditation, and will report to the Director of Education Operations.
This position will also be responsible for the Society's needs assessment function including, but not limited to, the ongoing evaluation of programs and products. In addition to topics, the needs assessment will also assist in determining delivery mechanisms, industry market trends and logistical direction. S/he will be responsible for the qualitative and quantitative tools to validate and measure the competency of current and future professional medical education programs. Assists in research and development for new program initiatives and takes leadership for continual improvements to existing programs that tie to the Society's strategic plan.
Essential Responsiblities:
- Manage the planning, implementation, production, distribution, summarization of data, entry of participants, and fulfillment of all tasks related to the CME projects.
- Correspond with Course Directors and related staff in regard to compliance with CME/CE requirements and disclosure.
- Manage all CME activities in accordance with ACCME guidelines.
- Function as the Society’s key expert on CME/CE guidelines and processes.
- Function as the Society’s key expert on CME Outcomes, including performance improvement and quality improvement theory and implementation.
- Work closely with Disease State Initiatives Project Director and Vice President of Education to ensure that all 360 Initiatives include CME Best Practices components.
- Work closely with Disease State Initiatives Project Director and Vice President of Education on all CE City efforts related to CME Outcomes.
- Direct the production of Speaker Packets for each course outlining disclosure and ACCME guidelines, in coordination with the Coordinator of Education Products and Services. Review Speaker presentations and edit in accordance with ACCME guidelines.
- Develop, implement, track and analyze disclosure and evaluation process for annual scientific sessions.
- Manage filing system for all CME activities to meet ACCME requirements for documentation.
- Develop and implement a report to comply with auditing requirements for CME activities. Establish, oversee and execute all CME accreditation procedures.
- Serve as the Society's liaison with other medical education organizations and accrediting bodies.
- Research, monitor and communicate trends and changes related to continuing education requirements and guidelines.
- Oversee the CME/CE website content related to educational programs and projects in conjunction with the Coordinator of Distance Education.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Five or more years of related work experience in continuing medical education setting with an ACCME-accredited organization required.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiating, collaboration and team building skills.
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, decision-making, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, project management and presentation skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and database applications.
- Extensive knowledge of accreditation requirements for continuing medical and health profession education credits and ACCME system is required.
- Experience with and knowledge of needs assessment and evaluation methodology a must.
- Basic knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles is preferable.
- Future growth in the Education Division will include a CME Coordinator, to be supervised by the Manager of CME/CE; hence, excellent supervisory skills are required.

- Conditions:
- Must be able to travel overnight, 6-10 trips per year.
