This webcast, featuring Ralph Lazzara, MD, FHRS, offers advice and counsel on how to choose a mentor. He begins by discussing traditional divisions of academic medicine and how you might choose a mentor based on how your choose to concentrate your efforts: research, teaching, clinical care and service and leadership. Your mentor can profoundly influence your career path, but you must know what you want to do and your aspirations before you select the ideal mentor. He covers both "serendipity" and informed analysis in selecting a mentor.
Dr. Lazzara’s presentation was one of four segments of a Heart Rhythm 2008 session titled "Careers in Academic EP: What the EP Fellow Needs to Know."
