Furman Fund Travel Scholarships

In 2009 the Heart Rhythm Foundation’s The Furman Fund established travel scholarships to enable cardiologists-in-training interested in pursuing electrophysiology research to attend the Society's Annual Scientific Sessions. The fund is named for Seymour Furman, MD, FHRS, who was a pioneer in cardiac pacing and electrophysiology; his early innovation and subsequent academic endeavors were greatly facilitated by his national and international collaborations. These scholarships continue his vision of educating future leaders.

  • 2009 Awardees: Anita Wokhlu, MD, of the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, and Cevher Ozcan, MD, of Yale University, New Haven, CT
  • 2010 Awardees: Vivek Iyer, MD, MSE, of Columbia University-NY Presbyterian Hospital, New York, NY and Krishnakumar Nair, MBBS, MD of Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, ON
