The 2008 Advanced Ablation Course is a comprehensive program that examines the latest ablation techiques:
- Multimodality approach with in-depth presentations integration both didactic reviews and interactive discussion with faculty and participants
- Analysis of key techniques, applications of new technology, and solutions to both common and rare clinical scenarios
- Intimate course environment allows personal one-on-one interaction with world-renowned faculty
- Case presentation format helps practitioners relate the experience of the faculty to their own procedures
- Automated Audience Response System (ARS) presents decision-making scenarios and provides immediate feedback
Course Description
The 2008 Advanced Ablation Course provides an intensive update on new generation advanced catheter ablation for complex supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias. The course addresses the evolving field of multimodality ablation for atrial fibrillation with in-depth discussions on new techniques and technologies, as well as the perils and pitfalls accompanying this intervention. The ablation of more complex arrhythmias, such as scar-related atrial flutters and ventricular tachycardias, are covered in depth and include the latest pathophysiology concepts and technical approaches.
Don’t miss the COMPLIMENTARY Fundamentals of Ablation Pre-Course!
1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2007
(Note: Pre-Course is included in the course registration.)
The pre-course, included with course registration, reviews the fundamentals of EP laboratory diagnosis and electrogram interpretation needed to understand the advanced topics covered during the course. Physicians in the early stages of an ablation practice will benefit from this pre-course, and it serves as a valuable tool for electrophysiologists looking to review, supplement, and update fundamentals of electrophysiology.
Course Highlights
- New this year!
More breakout sessions are offered at both basic and advanced levels. - More video presentations of advanced ablation procedures, highlighting key techniques, applications of new technology, and soluations to both common and rate clinical scenarios. These presentations will be integrated into both didactic reviews and interactive discussion with faculty and participants.
- Specific state-of-the-art techniques for evaluating, mapping, and ablating complicated arrhythmias
- Critical anatomy of ablation: what every practitioner must know
- Phantoms for use in early robotics interventions
- Electroanatomic, noncontact, impedance-based, and ultrasound-imaging applications for guiding mapping techniques and how to make them
- Radio frequency ultrasound, laser, cryo, and microwave energy sources, and their use in ablation
- Principles and techniques of interactive mapping
- Biophysics of ablation, including techniques for optimizing RF ablation with irrigated and large-tip electrodes and cryoablation
- Techniques to facilitate diagnosis and ablation of common complex arrhythmias in a busy EP practice
Who Should Attend
This course is of interest to:
- Cardiac Electrophysiologists
- Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellows
- Cardiac Surgeons
- Pediatric Electrophysiologists
- Cardiologists
- Radiologists
- Physicians Assistants
- Nurses
Program Format
The majority of the program is presented in a “case presentation” format to help the practitioner relate the experience of the faculty to his or her own procedures. The presentations will target an advanced level of practice. Participants are encouraged to bring case presentations of their own for discussion and review.
The program has been designed for maximum clinical applicability. In addition, several didactic sessions will bring together the many concepts needed for successful ablation. Multiple breakout sessions will provide more one-on-one interaction with the faculty. An automated audience response system (ARS) will put the attendee in the middle of decision-making scenarios and provide immediate feedback. Overall, this provides a multimodality approach to learning the very latest in ablation techniques.
To maximize the ultimate learning experience, participants are encouraged to bring their laptops to the course for presentation downloads. Course presentations can be viewed from one's laptop to increase image clarity and participants can follow along at their own pace.
