Program Description
The Board Review Course contains comprehensive content focused on preparation for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification and recertification examinations in clinical cardiac electrophysiology. For those not preparing for the exam, the course is an excellent update and overview of cardiac electrophysiology. Internationally recognized faculty have served on the ABIM CCEP test writing committee.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to
- Know the current guidelines related to evaluation and management of patients with cardiac rhythm disturbances
- Describe the role of electrophysiologic testing in managing patients with bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias
- Understand the advantages and limitations of diagnostic electrophysiologic methods
- Understand the role of pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic therapies for the treatment of arrhythmias
- Understand the basic electrophysiology and genetics of inherited conditions associated with cardiac arrhythmias
- Interpret complex electrophysiologic and electrocardiographic tracings
- Interpret stored electrograms from pacemakers and ICDs

Program Format
Lectures are supplemented with workshops using an audience response system (ARS) that allows interactive learning and in-depth coverage of exam content areas. A hardcopy of all lecture and workshop materials are provided to all participants. For an additional fee, an audio CD of the entire course will be made available to ATTENDEES ONLY.
Educational Hands-On Session
An Educational Hands-On Session and Reception showcasing the latest technological innovations in cardiac pacing and electrophysiology will take place on Thursday evening, September 25.

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Examination
The ABIM will be sponsoring Certification and Recertification Examinations in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology on November 11, 2008. Course Fees and Housing Information
The Board Review Course registration fees include all sessions, workshops and course materials, as well as continental breakfasts, lunches, and a dinner on Wednesday. You may register for the Recertification Prep Course only if desired. Register online.

Hotel Reservations — A block of rooms has been reserved at the Renaissance, Chicago Hotel at the special meeting rate of $234 per night (single/double). First come / first served special rate is available until September 3, 2008, after which, rooms will be offered on a space and rate available basis. Hotel reservations must be made through one of the registration options offered by the Heart Rhythm Society. A one night room and tax deposit is required to secure your reservation and is refundable up to 72 hours prior to your arrival date. If you cancel your hotel reservation within 72 hours of arrival or if you are a "no-show," a one night room and tax penalty will apply.
Payment Policy
The Heart Rhythm Society's registration and housing vendor, IECi, will process and accept the following credit cards: American Express, Visa, and Mastercard. Checks submitted must be drawn on a U.S. bank in U.S. dollars. The registrant pays all fees or charges connected with payment.

Member Registration Requirements
To receive the member rate you must be a member in good standing at the time of registration, with your membership dues paid through September 30, 2008. All non-members must register at the non-member rate.
Anyone applying for membership with the Heart Rhythm Society during the Board Review Course registration period must complete their application packet (application, CV, and dues) and be approved by the Society prior to registering for the course. The Society will not reimburse the difference between the member and non-member rates.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
All requests for cancellation of your registration for the Board Review Course and/or the ABIM CCEP Recertification Prep Course must be made in written format and recieved by IECi by September 3, 2008. A $50.00 processing fee will be withheld. Course registration fees are non-refundable for cancellations received after September 3, 2008. There is no refund for "no-shows." Written cancellations should be faxed to (617) 864-3767 or sent via email to reghousing@internationaleventconnection.com.
In the unlikely event the course is cancelled, the Heart Rhythm Society is responsible only for full refund of the registration fee and not for transportation, hotel accommodations or any miscellaneous expenses.
Accreditation & Continuing Medical Education (CME)
The Heart Rhythm Society is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The Heart Rhythm Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of 26.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
The AMA has determined that physicians not licensed in the USA who participate in this CME activity are eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
