The Society's "Apples and Oranges" SCA Awareness campaign is intended to increase the overall awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) — October's designation as National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month provides an opportunity to launch an ongoing conversation with patients about the risks and treatment options associated with SCA. The Society is providing its members and other healthcare providers with education as well as resources that provide treatment information for patients who are at risk of SCA and other heart rhythm disorders:

Live Programs

  • Navigating a National Approach to SCA Survival
    Friday, September 23, 2011 | Millennium Hotel | Minneapolis, MN
    A full day dedicated to continuing medical education, this program was a collaborative effort with Heart Rhythm Society and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association (SCAA). Navigating a National Approach to SCA Survival featured sessions on the recent advances in preventing sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and treating SCA patients, the pros and cons of athlete pre-participation evaluations, genetic testing and identification of patient psychosocial issues and ways to improve patient outcomes. A weekend full of sessions for SCA survivors, medical health professionals, community advocates and SCAA volunteers was also offered. Learn more »

    Case studies have served as an essential format for testing and evaluating diagnostic and clinical management skills. These three interactive online case study programs are related to SCA and understanding the guidelines: CME and CE credit is available for these programs:

  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Clinical Trials
    Find summaries of the major electrophysiology trials related to sudden cardiac arrest. This resource is available to allow the busy clinician the opportunity to keep abreast of the latest clinical trial research in order to provide state-of-the-art patient care.     The Society offers a comprehensive list of didactic webcast presentations by leaders in the field of electrophysiology.     • Challenging Times in Lead Management: From Implant to Extraction or Abandonment
      An archived version of this complimentary live webcast, which took place October 13, 2009 and featured a moderated panel discussion on topics related to lead implantation, extraction, and abandonment as they related to a given patient's situation, is available. The panelists fielded live questions from the audience, allowing participants the opportunity to inquire about their concerns associated with lead management. Learn more »
