Poster Session and Preparation Guidelines

Structure and Design

  • Poster boards are 45 inches high and 91 inches wide.
  • Lettering used on posters needs to be large enough to be visible from a minimum distance of six (6) feet. Please use a 30-point font or larger.
  • Choose a typeface that is simple and bold enough to be legible.
  • A style using bullets tends to be the most effective format.  Avoid lengthy paragraphs and excessively complex tables.
  • Graphs and photos also need to be large enough to be seen clearly at six (6) feet.
  • Listed below are color combinations that provide the greatest amount of contrast:
    Blue on white
    Black on white
    White on black
    White on blue
Content
  • The poster display should specify the abstract’s:
    Hypothesis or objective
    Methods
    R
    esults
    Conclusions
Any financial disclosures by the presenting author.
  • Use brief headings that organize and logically display data.
  • For the Heart Rhythm Annual Scientific Sessions, the Heart Rhythm Society provides all poster presenters with pushpins when they arrive at the Poster Check In Desk.  If your display will be too heavy to hang up with pushpins, please provide necessary materials.
