| Mark S. Kremers, MD, FHRS, CCDS has been a Heart Rhythm Society member for 23 years. |
How long have you been a member of the Heart Rhythm Society?
Twenty-three years.
How has membership in the Society been of value to you and your practice?
The Society is the principle source of education, motivation and support of my ability to deliver relevant, appropriate and contemporary electrophysiologic services to my partners and patients.
Why did you choose the field of electrophysiology?
In medical school at Indiana, I was fascinated by the information that could be gleaned from the simple ECG. I loved the challenge of deciphering its multiple messages and became adept at it. In my fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern, EP was embryonic and my interest in electrocardiography was a natural bridge to EP. My mentors, Jim Willerson and Bob Rude fostered this by arranging for further education at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with Mark Josephson, Al Buxton, Frank Marchlinski and John Miller. Please list a few of your most recent accomplishments.
- Past President of MidCarolina Cardiology, a 40-person regional cardiology group in North Carolina.
- Member of the ACC/HRS/NCDR National ICD Registry Steering Committee.
- Content Editor, ICD Registry Web page on Cardiosource.
- Contibutor, 2009 HRS AF CME Webcast Task Force.
