Heart Rhythm Society Announces Opening Plenary to Commence Heart Rhythm 2010
Session includes expert panelists who will address tough industry questions
DENVER, May 12, 2010 – Today, the Opening Plenary Session, hosted by Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) President, Richard L. Page, MD, FHRS, and Bruce L. Wilkoff, MD, FHRS, Chair of Scientific Sessions Program Committee, officially kicks off Heart Rhythm 2010, the Heart Rhythm Society’s 31st Annual Scientific Sessions in Denver, Colo. For the first time, the Opening Plenary Session will feature guest panelists who will cover the tough issues facing the medical industry.
“The Society’s Scientific Sessions is a unique opportunity for our industry to come together and share research and expertise that strengthens our profession and improve overall patient care,” stated Richard L. Page, MD, FHRS. “This year we are proud to initiate the 31st annual meeting with an Opening Plenary Session featuring industry experts who will shed light on the current challenges and opportunities facing our field.”
During the Opening Plenary Session, a group of expert panelists will address health care reform and its impact on the field of electrophysiology. The panelists will lead a discussion on how health care reform affects patient care and professional medical education. Panelists will also touch on how medical practices may change as Medicare and Private payers are moving from fee-for-service to quality outcomes based on payment systems, and the question of ethics and industry-physician relationships.
