WASHINGTON, June 14, 2010 — The Heart Rhythm Society announced today that it has become a member of the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates, the policy-making body that makes critical health care decisions and policy changes.

As a new member of the AMA House of Delegates, the Heart Rhythm Society will directly influence and vote on critical medical policies, including those affecting heart rhythm specialists and their patients.

As a delegate of the AMA House of Delegates, the Heart Rhythm Society will be able to seek advisor status to various AMA committees, such as the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Editorial Panel, the Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) and the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI).

By joining the American Medical Association House of Delegates, we can ensure that electrophysiology is also appropriately represented among medical specialties.
