This section traces the evolution of the fields of cardiac pacing, cardiac electrophysiology and implantable cardioversion-defibrillation through a tour of historic devices and other material significant to the fields.

Take a moment to explore the dramatic transformation of cardiac devices from the simple, crude devices of the thirties and forties to the technological wonders of more recent years. Here, also, you can read portions of significant papers that appeared in medical journals over the years, patents for devices that transformed the fields, and other information from as far back as the nineteenth century. This information illustrates the dedication of those scientists, physicians and inventors whose work developed the field of electrophysiology as we know it today.
