Countdown to the ICD Registry Version 2.0 Launch
The ICD Registry™ Version 2.0 will launch on April 1, 2010. Driven by a recognized need for expanded data capability, ICD Registry partners the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology Foundation have designed V2.0 to encompass new and more multi-faceted capabilities, including:
- Data collection on ICD leads — in addition to ICD/CRT-D generators, lead data will now be captured for all lead scenarios including:
- initial leads
- replacement leads
- lead revisions
- surgically abandoned leads
- Monitoring and reporting of pediatric ICD implantation data
- Enhancements to reflect current guidelines and update performance measures and key quality indicators
A series of training and educational opportunities will be offered for ICD Registry participants. Mark your calendars and make plans to attend this important upcoming training and education opportunity:

The V2.0 ICD Registry Workshop is designed to offer health care providers critical measurement tools to facilitate quality improvements for patients with ICD implantation. Highlights include:
- Review rationale for expanding the scope of V2.0 to include data on
- Generators: Primary and Secondary Prevention
- Newly implanted Leads: Atrial, Ventricular, Defibrillation and Left heart lead data which will be entered into the Registry when placed at the time of the ICD implant, and whenever another procedure is performed such as: repositioning, replacement, extraction or abandonment
- Pediatric ICD Implantation for those less than 21 years of age
- Review of resource tools
- Review of the newly enhanced on-line data collection tool and DQR
- V2.0 data element and definition review and on-line case studies
This half-day meeting (download agenda, PDF, 75K) incorporates an open format including presentations by ACC staff and physicians. Group discussion is encouraged and an Audience Response System will be incorporated into the educational strategy.
To ensure a smooth transition, the Heart Rhythm Society will send members regular e-mail updates about the new version of the registry and upcoming events prior to the launch in April.
