titlelines Save Medicare Act of 2008

Ask Your Senators to Co-Sponsor S. 2785, the “Save Medicare Act of 2008”  — 10.6% Medicare Physician Payment Cut to Go Into Effect July 1, 2008!

This legislation, introduced by Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), is a critical step in helping preserve the Medicare program and warding off the pending steep cuts to physician payment rates. The Save Medicare Act would provide a .5% update to physician payments for the remainder of 2008 and a 1.8% update for 2009. These payment updates would be fully funded — they would not increase the size of future cuts.

This is a critical time to reach out to your Senators and urge them to meet the deadline of July 1 for preventing a 10.6% cut that could endanger patient access to high-quality heart rhythm care.

Call your Senators today using the ACC's toll-free Grassroots Hotline at (800) 210-7193 and ask them to co-sponsor S. 2785. You may also e-mail your Senators, although phone calls are the most impactful.

Please forward this alert to your colleagues and practice administrators. Congress needs to hear from the entire medical community about how this cut would impact their practice.
