As per the Heart Rhythm Society's Code of Ethics (PDF, 241k), patient welfare must be paramount in the practice of medicine and under no circumstances shall a member of the Society place his or her self interest above the welfare of the patient.

2008

Legislation Would Require Drug and Device Manufacturers to Disclose Payments to Physicians (03/2008) — Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Herb Kohl (D-WI) and Representative Peter DeFazio (D-OR) introduced the Physician Payments Sunshine Act, which would mandate public disclosure by drug, device and medical equipment manufacturers of payments over $25 made to physicians.
