Dear Heart Rhythm Professional,
An important piece of legislation was recently introduced in Congress that would recognize an annual National Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Awareness Month in October. Senate Concurrent Resolution 93 and House Concurrent Resolution 393, introduced by Representatives Lois Capps (D-CA) and Charles Pickering (R-MS) and Senators Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Byron Dorgan (D-ND), is an important first step to provide a national opportunity to not only raise awareness and highlight the need for continued research and treatment options, but also save lives.
While we want to gather co-sponsors in the Senate, it is far more crucial to get co-sponsors signed on to the House Resolution. For the House to consider voting on a resolution, it must have at least 100 co-sponsors. In the Senate, resolutions have an easier time moving forward through a unanimous consent agreement.
Your help is critical to advance the legislation to the House floor and be considered for a vote. We need to secure 62 additional co-sponsors in the House of Representatives within the next two weeks. Please urge your Representative to co-sponsor the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month Resolution, H. Con. Res. 393. Learn more about the progress of these resolutions and the legislators who have already pledged support.
