Moderated Poster Sessions Specifications

Session Information
Each poster session has a specific start and end time. Moderated Poster Presenters are required to check in at the poster registration desk at the main entrance of the poster area. All presenters must have the Moderated Poster Confirmation page of their invitation to speed up the check-in process.

Session Time: 1 hour
Participant Information: 1 Moderator; 5 Abstract Presenters
5 sessions offered (see schedule below)

  • The session format allows an expanded poster presentation opportunity.
  • The Moderator will give an introduction for each presenter, ask the presenter questions at the end of each presentation and moderate a 5-10 minute discussion with attendees after all presentations have been presented.
  • Each presenter will receive 10 minutes for a PowerPoint presentation of the poster.
  • Electronic posters will be displayed on large plasma screens located at the entrance of the Moderated Poster Theater until the end of the Poster Session.

Presentation Format/Content
All moderated poster presenters are required to submit one PowerPoint presentation (a maximum of 8 slides) and one electronic poster presentation in PDF form (limited to one page). The maximum size of each file is 1G. The following is the standard information that must be included in both the PowerPoint and electronic poster presentations.

  • Title slide
  • Disclosure slide (All presenters are only required to create a disclosure slide if their financial disclosure is different from the disclosure information submitted to OASIS. If a presenter has submitted his/her financial disclosure and has no further updates to report, the presenter does not need to create a disclosure slide.)
  • Introduction
  • Method(s)
  • Result(s)
  • Conclusion(s)

*Both the PowerPoint presentation and electronic poster must be submitted not later than April 25, 2011, 11:59 p.m. ET. Please read the Presentation Management Uploading Instructions listed below to access the Presentation Management Submission site. The maximum size of each file is 1G.

Moderated Poster (Electronic Poster) Text/Design

  • Text Format: The poster presentation should be self-contained and not require any additional oral explanation to be understood by the attendees. Text should be brief and well organized, presenting only enough data to support your conclusions and logically display data. The text should make clear the significance of your research. A style using bullets tends to be the most effective format.
  • Arrangement of Text: A clear, simple, uncluttered arrangement is the most attractive and easiest to read.
  • Images and Photos: Graphs and photos also need to be large enough to be seen clearly at 6 feet. Illustrations should be simple and eye-catching, with unnecessary detail left out. (Be sure to use high-resolution photos only).
  • Audio/Video:Presenters are allowed to have a brief sound and/or video in their PowerPoint presentations. However, sound and video is not allowed in electronic presentations.

Text/Design Suggestions: If possible, convert tables to graphic displays. Pie graphs can be used to show parts of a whole, line graphs can be used to show trends or changing relationships, and bar graphs can be used to show volumes. Avoid lengthy paragraphs and excessively complex tables.
