Industry Membership

HRS provides membership for industry employees who are directly involved in education, research, engineering, and/or corporate leadership and are not chiefly responsible for sales/marketing.

Definition of Industry

For the purpose of Society membership, Industry is broadly defined as organizations or companies that manufacture or sell device, pharmaceutical, or other products or services. This definition is meant to include small business owners and self-employed consultants. It does not include those who earn consulting fees without having a part-time or full-time position with an organization or company.

Individuals who are chiefly responsible for sales and/or marketing are not eligible for membership in the Society.

Membership applicants or industry members can request to have their industry categorization reviewed by the Membership Committee. Any appeals to the decision of the Membership Committee may be reviewed by the Board of Trustees, and any potential conflict of interest involving the role of the applicant within the Heart Rhythm Society will be reviewed by the Ethics Committee.

Members are reminded that any employment with industry or ownership of businesses should be fully disclosed.

Any person having the status of a Member or Fellow of the Society, whose circumstances change such that he or she would otherwise be classified as an Industry Member, must notify the Society and will be converted to the appropriate member type and category upon review.

Types of Industry Members

The Industry category is open to industry employees who are directly involved in clinical and technical activities, education, research, engineering, and/or corporate leadership, and whose careers demonstrate a commitment to electrophysiology and/or pacing.

Individuals who are chiefly responsible for sales and/or marketing are not eligible for membership in the Society.

Benefits of Industry Membership

Industry members have the same dues rates, benefits, and privileges as other members, with the following exceptions: Industry members are ineligible to hold office, vote for elected positions, or serve on committees, task forces, working groups, or councils of the Society, except in special circumstances deemed appropriate by the President.
