Nsanzumuhire Leandre, MD

Dr. Leandre, a cardiology fellow at King Faisal Hospital and the University of Rwanda, is helping shape the future of electrophysiology care in Rwanda. In a setting where access to advanced EP training is limited, he is leading the country’s first comprehensive assessment of pacemaker trends and complications (2021–2026) and has established a permanent cardiac implantable electronic device service at his hospital. His work focuses on reducing preventable complications such as infection and lead displacement and will serve as the foundation for a national cardiac registry to strengthen patient safety and guide data-driven care.

I’ve witnessed my father’s deep passion for serving and advancing the field of electrophysiology, as well as his unwavering commitment to his patients—care that extends far beyond scheduled appointments or procedures.

Over the years, my father has built lasting relationships with colleagues, mentees, and mentors—many spanning 5,10, 20 years and beyond. This reflects his deep love for the field, dedication to teaching, and relentless drive to learn and innovate for the benefit of both his patients and electrophysiology as a whole.

He has inspired me to pursue something I’m truly passionate about and to have respect for one's craft by focusing on the process rather than the outcome, embracing continuous learning and improvement. His ability to cultivate meaningful, long-term relationships is something I deeply admire and strive to emulate in my own life.
