Heart Rhythm Travel Scholarships
Purpose
Heart Rhythm Travel Scholarships seek to:
- Introduce health care professionals who have expressed an interest in electrophysiology to the multiple facets of the electrophysiology specialty
- Promote continued collaborative relationships between early career professionals and experienced electrophysiology professionals
- Provide opportunities for mentoring of clinician-scientists and health care professionals early in their training
HRS is proud to have awarded over $500,000 to 350 scholarship recipients since 2021.
HRS is pleased to offer HRS Travel Scholarships again for Heart Rhythm 2026, which include complimentary registration and $1,500 to help cover travel costs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Third-year residents
- Cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellows
- Post-doctoral researchers or experienced pre-doctoral students interested in pursuing electrophysiology research in academic settings or private practice
- Licensed RNs, PAs, NPs, or technicians employed in an accredited institution or established cardiac electrophysiology program/practice
- Genetic counselors with a master's degree in genetic counseling from an ACGC-accredited program or employed in an accredited institution or established cardiac electrophysiology program/practice
- HRS members will receive priority over nonmembers, but membership is NOT required. Learn more about becoming a member of the Heart Rhythm Society today.
Award Details
- Award Amount: $1,500 (USD) travel grant per recipient plus complimentary registration.
- Number of Awards: Determined annually by HRS based on the availability of funding.
Please note: Individuals who have received a travel scholarship within the last two years are NOT eligible.
The Dr. Kenneth Ellenbogen Research Award is established to recognize and support outstanding early-career clinicians and researchers in the field of cardiac electrophysiology. This award aims to promote global engagement by enabling eligible international trainees to attend and participate in the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) Annual Meeting. Awardees will be honored through formal recognition at the meeting and across official HRS communications.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all the following criteria to be considered:
- Training Status Must be one of the following at the time of application:
- Third-year resident
- Cardiology fellow
- Clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellow
- Post-doctoral researcher
- Specialty Focus: Demonstrated interest in electrophysiology research in either academic or private practice settings.
- Geographic Affiliation: Must be an international attendee from a low-income or lower-middle income country (as defined by the world bank index).

- Award Amount: $2,000 (USD) travel grant per recipient plus complimentary registration.
- Number of Awards: Determined annually by HRS based on the availability of funding.
The Women in EP Award is established to recognize and support outstanding female clinicians in the field of cardiac electrophysiology. This award aims to promote global engagement by enabling eligible international EP professionals to attend and participate in the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) Annual Meeting. Awardees will be honored through formal recognition at the meeting and across official HRS communications.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all the following criteria to be considered:
- Gender: Must identify as female.
- Professional Status: Must be one of the following at the time of application:
- Third-year residents
- Cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellows
- Practicing electrophysiologists out of fellowship
- Post-doctoral researchers or experienced pre-doctoral students interested in pursuing electrophysiology research in academic settings or private practice
- Licensed RNs, PAs, NPs, or technicians employed in an accredited institution or established cardiac electrophysiology program/practice
- Genetic counselors with a master's degree in genetic counseling from an ACGC-accredited program or employed in an accredited institution or established cardiac electrophysiology program/practice
- HRS members will receive priority over nonmembers, but membership is NOT required.

Process
The HRS Travel Scholarship Working Group reviews all scholarship applications and selects qualifying individuals to receive awards. The final number of scholarships awarded is contingent upon individual donations and abstract submission fees. All travel scholarship funds are derived from non-commercial sources.
Considerations
Heart Rhythm Travel Scholarships support the efforts of residents, fellows-in-training, post-doctoral researchers, and allied health professionals focused on heart rhythm disorders, to attend the annual meeting. The number of travel scholarships to be awarded is contingent upon the level of funding achieved through individual donations and the abstract submission fees. All travel scholarship funds are derived from non-commercial sources.
Scholarships are available for third-year residents, cardiology fellows, clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellows, and post-doctoral researchers interested in pursuing electrophysiology research, either in academic settings or private practice. Allied Professional applicants must be licensed RNs, PAs, NPs, or technicians employed in an accredited institution or established cardiac electrophysiology program/practice.
