Kamala P. Tamirisa, MD, FHRS

Dr. Tamirisa completed Cardiology, Cardiac Electrophysiology, and Cardiac MRI fellowships at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. During her tenure at ProMedica Health System in Ohio, she played a pivotal role in building the AF ablation, Cardio-Obstetrics, and EP physician-Allied Professionals integrative programs. She directed the Arrhythmia Outpatient Service Line, developed a curriculum for trainees, and was a member of the ProMedica Heart Institute Board & EP council/Quality-Value Analysis workgroup.

Her commitment to patient care extended beyond EP clinical practice. She initiated collaborative initiatives, such as AEDs for public schools, AF-focused volunteer programs at inner-city gyms and salons, and raising awareness about food poverty and safety insecurity. She received the Healthcare Heroes Award and was nominated for the Thomas Jefferson Service Award.

Dr. Tamirisa is a book author and has published numerous articles on arrhythmia management in pregnancy, gaps in AF management, and advocacy topics focused on Women Physicians in EP. Dr. Tamirisa is the host of Women in Cardiology Practice Made Perfect Podcast/ACC. She is a reviewer for several journals including JACC journals, Circulation Arrhythmia, JAFib, and Am. Heart Journal.

She has served on several HRS committees over the years and is active in ACC’s advocacy and women in cardiology sections. Currently, she is with the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia in Dallas, Texas, and is the Director of Cardio-Obstetrics for Medical City Dallas. Her interests include leadless technology, venoplasty/devices in adult congenital patients, and arrhythmias in high-risk pregnancies. She remains active in clinical research and community programs with a passion for closing gaps in EP clinical care and workforce.
