The Health Equity Council’s Mission and Vision
Mission: To improve the care of all heart rhythm disorder patients by promoting health equity and exercising fairness in patient care, research, education, and healthcare policies.
Vision: To build a society that addresses heart rhythm disorders in all communities, with the goal to end death and suffering related to these disorders and promote comprehensive education and effective policies.

Leadership Programs
HRS has a long-standing commitment to accelerate lasting and meaningful change in Electrophysiology, including supporting our members in their professional development. We are pleased to offer leadership programs to improve inclusivity and decision-making, and address challenges for specific groups in EP with continued education, coaching, and building professional networks that will strengthen participants’ leadership skills and further their professional reach.
Health Equity Abstract Award
The Health Equity Abstract Award recognizes the abstract that promotes HRS’ commitment to Health Equity. This award is open to abstracts that involve:
- Research with a mission narrowing the gaps in EP Healthcare (Basic Science, Translational Research, Clinical Research, Community Initiatives, Partnership with Industry)
- Research performed at granular level with a focus on HRS-defined underrepresented race/ethnic groups (UREG) patients.
- Research with a focus on inequalities in application of available therapies in clinical electrophysiology.
- Research that highlights solutions on plugged or leaky pathway for a women and/or UREGs.
Highest Scoring Abstract for Women in EP Award
The Highest Scoring Abstract Award for Women in EP recognizes the highest scoring abstracts submitted by a female investigator or highest scoring abstracts on the topic of gender-specific arrhythmias.
