Sudden cardiac death remains a critical public health challenge and a major focus of ongoing clinical and translational research aimed at improving risk prediction, prevention strategies, and survival outcomes for patients at risk of—or recovering from—cardiac arrest. The planning committee recognizes the vital importance of equipping providers at all levels with the most current, evidence-based knowledge to enhance clinical decision-making, optimize patient care, and ultimately improve outcomes across diverse practice settings.

Learning Objectives

– Evaluate emerging technologies and AI-driven tools for predicting and preventing sudden cardiac death (SCD), including wearable devices and computational modelin
– Analyze disparities in SCD outcomes across racial, ethnic, and gender groups, and explore strategies to improve equity in care delivery.
– Review current and upcoming clinical trials related to implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), wearable cardiac defibrillators (WCDs), and other risk-modification therapies.
– Discuss the evolving role of resuscitation science and community engagement in improving out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survival rates.
– Identify SCD risk factors in special populations, including athletes, cardio-oncology patients, and individuals with genetic or inflammatory cardiomyopathies.
