February 6, 2024 – The following legislations were introduced near the end of January to early February: H.R.7149, S.3679, H.R.7153, and H.R.7140.
H.R.7149, the Equal Access to Specialty Care Everywhere Act (EASE) Act, sponsored by Rep. Michelle Steel, would amend title XI of the Social Security Act to require the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to test a model to improve access to specialty health services for certain Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.
S.3679 and H.R.7153 reauthorizes the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act to support provider mental health.
H.R.7140, sponsored by Rep. Steven Horsford, would amend the Public Health Service Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to require group health plans and health insurance issuers offering group or individual health insurance coverage to disclose the percentage of in-network participation for certain provider types and for other purposes.
