November 1, 2023 – CMS recently announced that it will soon begin conducting MIPS Data Validation and Audits (DVA) related to 2022 performance year (PY) data. DVAs are conducted to confirm the accuracy and completeness of data reported for purposes of MIPS.
MIPS participants will be selected randomly for DVA, and notifications will be sent to clinicians and groups starting in November 2023 through March 2024. If selected, clinicians and groups will have 45 days from the date of the notice to provide the requested information (e.g., copies of claims, medical records for applicable patients) to CMS.
Failure to provide requested information could result in a payment adjustment and may also increase the possibility of being selected for a future DVA.
