July 18, 2023 – The House of Representatives committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health convened a hearing titled, Innovation Saves Lives: Evaluating Medicare Coverage Pathways for Innovative Drugs, Medical Devices, and Technology.
HRS’ advocacy consultant Hart Health Strategies Inc. covered the hearing, which featured testimony from:
- The American Academy of Neurology
- The Society of Thoracic Surgeons
- PAVmed
- Edwards Lifesciences
- The Alzheimer’s Association
- The American Enterprise Institute.
Members of the Subcommittee questioned witnesses on how to increase patient access to medical innovation by improving Medicare coverage processes. Much of the discussion focused on the potential of the proposed Transitional Coverage for Emerging Technologies (TCET) framework, as well as recent regulatory decisions surrounding drugs that target amyloid for Alzheimer’s disease.
