Dr. Mittal is Chair of Cardiology and Director of the Electrophysiology Program at The Valley Health System in Paramus, New Jersey, and serves as Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is a practicing cardiac electrophysiologist with extensive experience leading an integrated cardiovascular service line within a non-university health system environment.
Dr. Mittal earned his medical degree through Boston University’s six-year BA–MD program and completed fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Pennsylvania and Weill Cornell Medical Center, respectively. He is board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and is a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society.
Professionally, Dr. Mittal has focused on building sustainable, high-performing electrophysiology and arrhythmia programs that integrate clinical care, research, education, and fiscal stewardship. His areas of expertise include atrial fibrillation management, catheter ablation, cardiac implantable electronic devices, remote monitoring, and emerging digital health technologies. In his current role, he oversees a multidisciplinary cardiovascular program, manages complex operational and financial structures, and partners closely with administrative and clinical leadership to ensure quality, growth, and accountability.
Dr. Mittal has been an active volunteer member of the Heart Rhythm Society for nearly three decades. His service has included committee participation, educational programming, abstract review, faculty roles at the Annual Scientific Sessions, and leadership within strategic initiatives. He served on the HRS Board of Trustees from 2019 to 2022 and most recently as Executive Producer of HRX, contributing to the development and growth of the Society’s flagship innovation-focused meeting. He also serves on the Governing Board of Heart Rhythm Advocates.
As a potential member of the officer leadership pathway, Dr. Mittal brings the perspective of a clinician-leader experienced in fiduciary oversight, governance, and strategic planning. He values transparency, responsible stewardship of resources, and collaborative decision-making, and is committed to supporting the Board’s collective work in advancing the Society’s mission to improve patient care, promote research and education, and serve a diverse global electrophysiology community.
