HRS Policy Statement Update: Recommendations on the Role of Industry-Employed Allied Professionals

October 27, 2022—The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) released a revised policy statement on the role of industry-employed allied professionals.

New to the policy statement in this update are:

• Discussions on the role of mapping specialists, imaging specialists, and specialists in left atrial appendage occlusion device implantation;
• A definition of the primary health care provider to whom the IEAP must report and respond;
• Expansion of the wide variety of settings in which IEAPs perform their activities; and
• A section on HIPAA-compliant secure data transfer and the electronic medical records.
