October 27, 2022—The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) released a revised policy statement on the role of industry-employed allied professionals.
New to the policy statement in this update are:
- Discussions on the role of mapping specialists, imaging specialists, and specialists in left atrial appendage occlusion device implantation;
- A definition of the primary health care provider to whom the IEAP must report and respond;
- Expansion of the wide variety of settings in which IEAPs perform their activities; and
- A section on HIPAA-compliant secure data transfer and the electronic medical records.
