[ON DEMAND] The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) profoundly impacts the day-to-day activities of clinicians and sets the policy agenda for health care in the U.S. Yet most physicians know relatively little about this complex government agency. Join the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) and Hart Health Strategies for a deep dive into CMS. The webinar will provide an overview of CMS, including Medicare Part A and Part B, along with the transition from fee-for-service to a value-based payment system. This is the second session of the Health Policy Webinar Series developed by HRS’ Health Policy and Regulatory Affairs Committee.
Learning Objectives
- Describe how CMS has evolved and expanded since enacted as Title XVIII and Title XIX of the Social Security Act in 1965.
- Describe how CMS uses the rulemaking process to set payment rates and determine policies.
- Discuss why CMS is transitioning from fee-for-service to a value-based reimbursement system.
