GLOWE
Program Description
The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) is pleased to offer the
Growth and Leadership Opportunity for Women in Electrophysiology (GLOWE) program.
HRS is the leading membership society and the voice for the electrophysiology ecosystem. Our membership boasts nearly 7,500 practitioners in more than 90 countries.
Cardiac electrophysiology (EP) has one of the lowest representations of women within medicine. Only 12% of clinical EP trainees are women, and shockingly only 9% of board-certified EPs are women. GLOWE is a group of peers that will not only provide a platform for women in EP to share and strengthen best practices but drive personal growth and deep connections with like-minded professionals in the field.
HRS's Growth and Leadership Opportunity for Women in Electrophysiology (GLOWE) program addresses women's opportunities and challenges within the context of an EP career and will help participants put effective, collaborative methods of leadership to work within HRS and their organizations. Participants will focus on developing leadership skills and personal influence as well as exploring strategies for goal development and advancement strategies.
GLOWE offers women electrophysiologists with a unique opportunity to enhance their leadership and career development skills through education, coaching, and building professional networks. The purpose of GLOWE is to provide the knowledge and skills needed to enhance the path to leadership within HRS and academic or private practice medicine. Focus areas will include strategic communication skills, negotiation practices, management, and conflict resolution. As the leading organization for EP leaders, the value of being a part of this career shaping experience is unparalleled.
The 2023-2024 GLOWE program will be led by Chairs Andrea M. Russo, MD, FHRS and Janet K. Han, MD, FHRS.
