WASHINGTON, D.C., JUNE 24, 2025 – Today, the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), the international leader in science, education, and advocacy for cardiac arrhythmia professionals and patients, officially announced Patricia (Pat) Blake, FASAE, CAE, will retire as HRS CEO – and full-time association management – at the end of 2025.

“Pat Blake has been an energizing driver of change for HRS over the past 6-1/2 years. She successfully led us through the turbulent pandemic years while increasing our influence, visibility and impact,” said HRS President, Dr. Mina Chung. “Under Pat’s leadership, HRS successfully launched several new key programs while significantly improving our digital infrastructure to boost engagement, growth, and revenue diversification. HRS is well-positioned for the next CEO to continue growing our dynamic organization.”

A search committee led by HRS Past President Dr. Jodie L. Hurwitz, will identify candidates and assist the HRS Board of Trustees with selecting the next CEO. Blake will continue to lead the organization and remain onboard through December 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.

Blake, former Chair and current Fellow of American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) has been a leader in the association community for decades while supporting medical professionals and the patients they serve. Under Blake’s leadership, HRS cemented its commitment to drive innovation through the establishment of HRX, the Society’s innovation-focused brand, and HRS elevated its commitment to advocacy with the formation, Heart Rhythm Advocates and the Heart Rhythm Advocates Foundation. Blake spearheaded the development of HRS member leadership programs designed to increase leadership skills and opportunities for career advancement for physicians and allied professionals. During Blake’s tenure, HRS increased membership by 29% and revenue by 15%.

“Serving the Heart Rhythm Society’s members and interacting with the global EP ecosystem has been a true honor and privilege,” said Blake. “The work our EP professionals perform and their commitment to their patient is truly astounding. The future of HRS, and the inspiring profession it serves, is full of opportunities and promise.”
